If nothing has worked so far, maybe the missing piece isn't more discipline. Maybe it's surrender — but to the right thing.
Watch — then read the full storyThis is where addiction lives. Not in the substance — in the chains. The darkness that presses in. The weight that makes standing up feel impossible. You know this feeling. So do I.
The moment the light arrives, everything changes. Not because the man became stronger — but because something stronger arrived for him. That is not willpower. That is grace.
This is where the story ends — and where yours can begin. The chains on the ground. The light everywhere. This is what full surrender to Jesus Christ looks like from the other side.
If that's you — if nothing has worked, if you're exhausted from fighting something that always comes back — then I want to offer you something that changed my life. Not a method. Not a program. A different way of seeing what you're actually fighting.
I believe these are not just bad habits. They are not simply brain chemistry or weak character. They are forces that feed on your lowest moments — on your loneliness, your boredom, your pain, your doubt. They wait for you to tire. They are patient in ways you are not.
Modern science blames loneliness for addiction. And they are not entirely wrong — but we know they mean spiritual loneliness, not just the physical kind. Many people with busy lifestyles and large families still have addictions. It is not the absence of people around you. It is the absence of something greater within you.
And if that's what you're up against, then matching it with willpower alone is like bringing a cup of water to a fire.
The companies that profit from your addiction employ entire marketing departments whose sole purpose is to make sure you never quit. They study your weaknesses. They design their products to exploit them. They call it "engagement." We call it what it is.
You were never meant to fight this alone. And willpower was never the weapon that would win it.
What I found — and I say this from personal experience, not from a pulpit — is that faith is the only force that addressed the root. When I let Jesus Christ into my heart, something shifted. Not overnight, and not without struggle. But the pull weakened. The grip loosened. I wasn't white-knuckling it anymore — I was being held by something stronger than the thing that had been holding me.
I'm not telling you this is easy, or instant, or that faith makes you immune to temptation. I'm telling you it changed the battlefield entirely.
Among us in this brotherhood, there is no smoking, no drinking, no drugs, no gambling — these chains are broken, for the Lord Himself has broken them. Yet many of us once lived in that same darkness. Some tried ten times, twenty times, even more to break free — and failed.
But when they entered the brotherhood, they found a strength greater than their own. In unity, in prayer, in love — the chains fell away.
Our prayers are not empty words. They are fire. They cast out what has taken hold of you and shut the door against its return. Once you feel the power of community and God Himself, addiction loses its grip — for good.
If everything else has failed you, maybe the missing piece isn't more discipline.
Maybe it's surrender — but to the right thing.
